Not wanting to walk alone, I don’t. It’s not about safety. I prefer company, because I am a human being and, generally speaking, we prefer company. I prefer to be affectionate when I walk but I find it difficult to be affectionate to myself. Similarly, my jokes land flat on the ground if there is not someone else there to catch them.
